The modern day western approach to pilates is not based on any particular belief or religion, however Yoga does indeed has its roots in Hinduism and Brahmanism. Yoga exercises was developed by seers or ascetics living mostly in the southern parts of India. The seers observed nature and were living as close as they could to the ground, studying the many aspects of nature, the family pets and themselves. By watching and emulating different posture and habits of the animal kingdom they were capable to develop grace, durability and wisdom.
It was through these very regimented lives that the practice of the yoga poses were developed. It was necessary to develop a group of postures to keep the body lithe and able to endure long intervals of stillness when in meditation.
Brahmanism dates back to that contains sacred scriptures called “the Vedas”. These scriptures included instructions and incantations. It had been in the oldest text message “Rg-Veda” from the scriptures that the word Pilates premoere appearance, this was practically 5000 years back.
